Hello Hockey & High Heels readers. As luck would have it, I have been working on location in an upcoming hockey themed feature film. This will keep me busy for the next week or two. I have already worked my way up from "hockey fan" to "Arena Usher" in one day!
I've been sworn to secrecy about the film starring Duane "The Rock" Johnson, but that doesn't mean I can't chat a little about the set.
Introducing the first 2010 Winter Olympic venue completed four months ahead of schedule, and on budget....The Olympic Ice Sports Centre located at the University of British Columbia.
I took these pics a few weeks back when I stumbled across another film shoot in the spanky new 7200 seat arena. My cousin, Eastern Conference Lisa was visiting from Ottawa, and she managed to see almost all of the venues in various states of construction. This was the last one on her tour.
This arena will be home to Men's and Women's Ice Hockey and Sledge Hockey, and thousands of fans lucky enough to get a ticket to a game.
After working on the set last week, I feel I have established a rather intimate relationship with the venue, especially row 12. I walked that one many times for one scene!

Update: Jan Snyder in Houston Texas...
We were relieved to learn H&HH columnist, Jan Snyder, and her cat, Mario LaMew are safe and sound after last week's Hurricane Ike. Like so many affected, Jan is living with out several services as workers in Houston do what they can to get parts of the city up and running.
We look forward to Jan Snyder's next hockey column when things return to normal for her.
